Wheat Field with Flowers

Medium: Pen on Poster board

Dimensions: 5’ x 4’

This piece endeavors to capture a simple yet fleeting moment - my little sister picking from a patch of flowers in a wheat field. The work as a whole strives to incorporate techniques from some of my favorite impressionist artists; Van Gogh is reflected in the cypresses to the left, Monet’s Wild Poppies are seen in the flowers, and Pissarro in the Italian villa far in the distance. Has she just gone out to get flowers? Is she about to go back home? What a simple pleasure to be outside in this landscape. The wind flows in the field. The clouds roll in above. The meadow by the trees on the right is almost illusive. The bails of hay rest gently. How ephemeral this moment is.
