The Hangover House is a landmark of early modern residential architecture, perched above the Southern California coast. Designed by William Alexander Levy for American travel writer and adventurer Richard Halliburton, the reinforced-concrete residence was completed in 1938. Its bold geometric forms and dramatic relationship to the surrounding landscape anticipate ideas that would become central to California modernism in the decades that followed.
